Challenge:

As a leader in sustainability in the aviation industry, Cathay Pacific was one of the first airlines to monitor and publicly report its environmental performance. Since 1996, Cathay Pacific has been measuring the global CO2 emissions of its fleet.
To continue the A+ grade GRI reporting of the Group’s sustainability, Cathay Pacific sought to produce a detailed ‘ground’ footprint from its six Hong Kong business units and to have this inventory externally verified.
Solution
RESET Carbon worked with the Cathay Pacific’s Environmental Affairs Team to build an appropriate reporting scope, collect and internally verify data across a diverse range of businesses ranging from catering to engineering workshops.
Following RESET Carbon’s work the inventory was rapidly verified against the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
RESET Carbon continues to work with Cathay Pacific on deepening and globalising the ground inventory with a view to develop a carbon management programme for its ground businesses.
